AI myths are everywhere today and as artificial intelligence becomes part of everyday life, many people form wrong beliefs about how it actually works. Most of these beliefs come not from real experience, but from a lack of understanding of how AI works.

These myths cause uncertainty, misuse, and disappointment, often leading people to give up on learning how to use and apply AI effectively in their work and creative processes.

Myth 1. A chatbot understands what it says.

No, a chatbot does not understand what it says, because it does not have human experience – it is not an emotional or cognitive being. A chatbot is a computer program that predicts which words should appear next.

Myth 2. A chatbot is as intelligent as humans.

A chatbot (or artificial intelligence, generally speaking), despite the word “intelligence”, does not have thoughts, intentions, goals, and above all does not have consciousness. A chatbot / Artificial Intelligence is a mathematical system that operates on data that has been fed into it and on that basis generates a new answer each time.

Myth 3. Artificial Intelligence knows everything.

No, Artificial Intelligence does not know everything, because it does not have access to all the world’s knowledge, nor, most importantly, to up-to-date information in real time. The closest chatbot/AI agent to being up to date with current world events is Grok. However, Artificial Intelligence and its chatbots often make mistakes and generate answers that sound “current” but are not true. This behaviour of chatbots is called hallucination.

Myth 4. Chatbots are objective and unbiased.

No, chatbots are neither objective nor unbiased. Chatbots are created by companies whose owners have their own political, religious and biological views, as well as their own biases and preferences. This is why it is often said that chatbots are biased and reproduce the opinions and beliefs of their creators.

Myth 5. Artificial Intelligence will replace humans.

No, Artificial Intelligence will not replace humans, but it will replace many different tasks that are currently performed by people. Artificial Intelligence will change the way people work and will significantly speed up the execution of many tasks, however it will not eliminate the need for individual thinking, for a value system on which decisions are based, and above all – it will not replace or take responsibility for the execution of tasks.

Myth 6. Artificial Intelligence thinks for you.

No, Artificial Intelligence does not think. Artificial Intelligence generates answers to questions, but their application, use and implementation belong to the human. If a person mindlessly copies and “pastes” answers generated by chatbots, this can lead to many problems for which the human will be responsible – not only legally, but also morally and ethically.
